Being a teacher has its advantages and its disadvantages, but we are all in this field because we want to help children succeed in life. However, is there one thing you would like to change about the field of education, and if so, what is it? Is there something you would like to see differently about being a teacher? How can we improve education if you think it needs improving? Please share your thoughts :)
I would like to see us go back to teaching how we, as teachers, see fit. I want to be able to use novels in my classroom to teach my children certain topics and create thematic units to create a great environment in my classroom. In third grade, we did a thematic unit on the rain forest and we turned our whole classroom into the Amazon. It was amazing and I still remember all that I learned from that unit! That's what we need to go back to; teaching in general, not testing.
ReplyDeleteHaving the freedom to teach what you want like with those novels sounds amazing! I would have loved to have a classroom that looked like the Amazon while in school :) It would definitely be nice to teach what you wanted to teach in school.
DeleteI would like to see inclution work. Many special needs students are placed in the general classroom, where the teacher has no idea how to address that students needs.
ReplyDeleteGeneral ed teacher should resive training in special needs, not just a workshop but part of being higly qualified.
I would like to see classrooms look differently and be compatible for learning. Sitting children in rows of desks cannot bt the best or only way to function as a classroom. I would like for all of my students to have a laptop or tablet they are assigned to that stays at their desk. I want the classroom to look like learning takes place there!
